ABSTRACT

Tutor’s notes This activity uses British shoe sizes and the extension work on page 114 includes metric shoe sizes. The numbers used for metric shoe sizes are too large for the Adult Pre-entry Curriculum Framework, but it is useful for students to be aware of both sizes shown on their shoes. (NB: The European shoe sizes for men and women differ slightly. An average size has been used for the table on page 114.)

Part of the activity, deals with odd and even numbers; this is an important element for preparation of something they experience and should be included. One example of this is house numbers, where they are odd on one side of the road and even on the other.
