ABSTRACT

At this stage in the development of concepts of time, students are ordering and sequencing daily happenings. Through use and discussion they realise that some events happen ‘before’ others while some happen ‘after’ others. The sequencing of numbers in the Number Tool Kit and their position on a number line, that is, ‘before’ and ‘after’ is applied to a pictorial time line. Daily events are also linked to hourly and half hourly times.
