ABSTRACT

The deforestation of tropical rain forests is one of the most important environmental problems in the world today but, as this book has shown, it is a rather complicated problem and by no means easy to control. The first part of this chapter sums up the book’s main findings. This is followed by a review of progress made so far in controlling deforestation at national and international levels. The chapter ends with some thoughts about future trends and prospects.
