ABSTRACT
So much of this area of the curriculum is aimed at overall pupil personal development and wellbeing.This links very strongly with the Every Child Matters agenda and the SEAL initiative (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning).All schools hope to develop mature, independent and self-confident pupils with an awareness and respect for others. We strongly believe that this is the most important area of the whole curriculum and underpins all other work that takes place in the primary school classroom.Working through photocopiable worksheets is often used as an easy way to deliver this area of the curriculum, and a wealth of printed resources have appeared on the market to meet this need. However, we feel that this is not the most effective way to work with pupils and to develop their thinking.The most effective tool to deliver many of the skills, knowledge and understanding is through circle time.
