ABSTRACT

This is a book about science, technology and technoscience. It is about science

studies, cultural studies and feminist studies and their coming together. It is

about doing feminist cultural studies of technoscience. It is about the casting

of particular heroes of science: Isaac Newton, James Watson, Rosalind

Franklin, Barbara McClintock and Anna Brito. It is about the procreation stor-

ies that have been told and circulated at the end of the twentieth and the

beginning of the twenty-first centuries, in the era of the new reproductive tech-

nologies. It is about the technological spectacle of the Gulf War of 1991. It is

about technological tourism in Disney World’s EPCOT Center and NASA’s

Spaceport.
