ABSTRACT
The occurrence of vector-borne diseases extends from the tropics and subtropics to the temperate climate zones. With a few exceptions, vector-borne diseases do not occur in the colder climatic regions of the world. The incidence of vector-borne diseases is determined by various factors, such as human behaviour, vector characteristics, and the presence of the relevant parasite. Any factor influencing these determinants will influence the likelihood of disease transmission.
