ABSTRACT
Trying to give an overview of the human settlements sector at a world-wide level is almost impossible because of the extreme variety of situations each individual country is facing. W hat do countries like China or India, where over half of the world population is living, have in common with Tuvalu in the Pacific (less than 10,000 people) or Dominica (less than 100,000)?
