ABSTRACT

Japan’s ODA in 1994 increased by 8.1% in yen, and 17.6% in US$ to reach 1.35 trillion yen (US$13.2 billion). Japan has thus remained the largest donor for four consecutive years. ODA per capita surpassed the US$100 mark and the GNP proportion improved from 0.27% in 1993 to 0.29%. The share of bilateral aid (71.9%) was virtually the same, as was geographical distribution, the lion’s share of which (57.3%) went to Asia.
