The UK Government’s 1997 White Paper on development the first comprehensive government statement on development for over two decades – aims to:
Refocus aid on poverty eradication;
BGuild partnerships with developing countries and the private sector;
Strengthen public understanding and support for development;
Ensure that the full range of government policies affecting developing countries takes account of sustainable development.
