ABSTRACT
There are many “future possibles” mapped out by the think tanks and research bodies of the world. Some stress the political dimensions of the future, some the economic and some the environmental. From all the threats confronting our planet, I have selected two which are likely to be central in shaping the survival chances of the vulnerable: population growth and global warming.
