ABSTRACT
The production of vehicle fuels from biomass can technically be achieved in several ways, either as gaseous fuels originating from biogas or wood gasification plants, or as liquid fuels from a number of conversion routes suitable for a range of biomass resources including purpose-grown sugar and oil crops. In the future biomass may also have a role to play as a source of hydrogen for fuel-cell-powered vehicles (Chapter 10).
