ABSTRACT

The heat exchanger’s primary side, which circulates the collector liquid, still belongs to the collector loop. Its secondary side, however, can be assigned to the solar storage loop or (if no separate storage unit is used) to the consumer loop. Since the heat exchanger in some cases (especially small installations) is integrated into the storage tank, the collector-loop interface is placed before the heat exchanger. In this latter position, the accessibility allows the installation of measurement devices (such as flow-meters, see Chapter 3.2). Therefore, heat exchangers are treated in a separate Chapter.
