ABSTRACT
Sartre’s thinking about freedom evolved through his writings as he tackled certain problems that arose from his conception of absolute freedom. One major change had to do with his increased recognition of the power of situation. Recognizing this, he rethought the role of the writer in effecting social change. As a writer himself, Sartre saw that he had a particular social and political role to play.
