Ground floors to domestic extensions can be divided into three basic types:

(1) ground supported solid floors (see Figs 13.1, 16.1 and 16.2) (2) suspended timber floors (see Figs 13.2 and 16.3) (3) patent suspended concrete ground floors (e.g. beam and block) – As

this is a patent form of construction, individual manufacturer’s catalogues need to be consulted. The type of floor chosen depends upon the designer’s preference and site conditions.
