Imagining alternative universalisms: Intersectionality and the limits of liberal discourse

Intersectionality as an analytical device has been used to deconstruct universal liberal discourses, of feminism and of citizenship, and their subjects. Can a narrative of intersections be used to construct an alternative, i.e. non-liberal, discourse of the universal, from a post-colonial perspective? This chapter attempts to do so.
