ABSTRACT

Emotional atmosphere or state, generally not directed at anything specific. Psychology has usually subsumed mood under the broader category of emotion and paid it relatively little sustained research attention. There are, however, some interesting aspects of mood differentiating it from emotion in the usual sense, for instance, as well as often lacking a specific object, moods can more easily be collective in quality. An individual’s moods may also be more obvious to observers than to the individual concerned.
