ABSTRACT

Chris is a commissioning editor at a major New York publishing house, where he has worked for many years. Over this time, he has developed considerable skills in anticipating the kinds of non-fi ction books people hunger to read. He has become quite adept, one might say, in reading the signs of what the general reading public want. Indeed, picking up on the signs of the book market is how he has got to where he is today. He made his reputation commissioning popular works of history, and in recent years has moved more in the direction of popular culture, celebrity and media. In recent months, he’s commissioned books on the rise of reality television, the politics of ‘size 0’ fashions, and several celebrity biographies.
