ABSTRACT
Along with poverty and unemployment, the family has also been identified by modern criminologists as a major source of crime and delinquency. Given the scale of the social, economic and cultural changes that have taken place since the 1970s in the UK, the USA and Australia, it is not surprising that the temptation to find the family responsible for the crime problems of our time has proved so irresistible.
