ABSTRACT

Technology is ubiquitous in the modern western world and throughout the history of design and technology (D&T) in the school curriculum technology has been synonymous with its content and teaching. In discussing ‘technology’ in the D&T curriculum, we are focusing to the use of computer-based equipment for the purposes of designing and making. There are several debates around the use of technology in D&T classrooms; in this chapter, we focus on three issues: the purposes of technology in D&T, how teachers use technology to develop pupils’ learning and the availability and management of technology resources.
