ABSTRACT

Rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) is largely and distinctively based on the major principles of post-modernism and relativism. Enshrined in these principles is the major idea that there is no absolute truth and that so-called ``reality'' has to be viewed and understood within the context in which it occurs. However, this does not mean that all constructions are deemed to be equal; indeed, far from it. What it does mean is that people need to be sceptical of accounts of phenomena since the account may say as much or in some cases more about the account giver than about the account given.
