ABSTRACT
Within any group of pupils, it should be possible to plan an activity so that each pupil has an opportunity to learn and benefit from the session at their own level. This statement would be widely approved of by teachers, with the caveat that it can be extremely difficult to put into practice. The need to plan to meet individual needs in groups is as important in planning to meet needs in IT capability, as it is in any other activity in school. The three broad milestones can be used in a variety of ways in order to differentiate for a group of pupils with a wide range of needs. In the example below, a single piece of software "Smart Alex" from Brilliant Computing is used at each level.
