ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with five more sophisticated and related techniques for multivariate analysis of interval-level variables. The aim is to develop an awareness of the potential of these techniques, but you will not become an expert on the basis of the chapter, which gives the flavour of the techniques rather than being comprehensive. All the methods assume one dependent variable and two or more ‘independent’ variables. These techniques are all based on bivariate correlation and regression, so make sure you are clear about these techniques before reading further. They also make use of the notions of controlling and intervening variables discussed in Chapter 16.
