ABSTRACT
Growth hormone (GH) is a naturally occurring endogenous peptide hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It has strong anabolic properties regulating body composition and is widely believed to be a major drug of abuse in sport. Its use is banned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and it appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of prohibited substances.
