ABSTRACT

Consistent with my argument that the study of pedagogy is the study of the process of coming to know (about something), we can think of the various stories or tales about pedagogy as themselves doing pedagogical work by the very nature of their particular narrative genre. This idea picks up on the famous Marshall McLuhan (1964) saying “The medium is the message”. These tales are related in journals, books, conference presentations and the like and they all have a pedagogical intent. Interestingly, however, I have not read of any analysis of these tales as pedagogy from the perspective of their genre doing pedagogical work.
