ABSTRACT

The Science with Technology Project was a joint initiative of the Association for Science Education (ASE) and the Design and Technology Association (DATA). The Project was also supported by the National Association of Teachers of Home Economics and Technology (NATHE) in the food and textiles areas. The project was established to produce curriculum materials and to develop strategies to support schools making links between science and technology. These materials are aimed at students in the 14–19 age range and can be used with GCSE, GNVQ and A/AS level courses. Developing these curriculum materials often involved working with industry to develop accurate, relevant and interesting contexts for work in science and technology, illustrating the ‘seamless web’ that links these subjects together with mathematics in ‘real life’ contexts.
