ABSTRACT
Bodmin Community College is not, as might be expected, a typical rural school. Many families from Rodmin a small, former market town in North Cornwall and an over-spill town, have inner London origins and pupils have some of the problems that might be more associated with an urban school. For example, we have over 90 pupils with statements of special needs. Bodmin has a population of about 14000 and we are the only secondary school, with over 1200 on roll; currently over 200 are in the sixth form and more than 250 mature full- and part-time access students. Sixth form students follow a variety of courses, including a mix of ‘A’ levels, General National Vocational Qualifications (GNVQ), GCSE retakes, RSA Certificates, Certificate in Child Education or a combination of these alternatives.
