ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is two-fold. First, it seeks to compare and analyse

the hypotheses presented in Chapter 1. Despite the difficulties inherent in comparing pension policies, the theoretical framework used in this research

shows much potential. The process by which pensions are being reformed

tells us a great deal about the breadth of the reforms, with the institutiona-

lization of political actors being the key independent variable. Null

hypotheses are also studied and dismissed. Second, a brief exploration of

how the theoretical framework might be applied to other countries is pre-

sented, along with avenues for future research.
