ABSTRACT
The authors of this chapter work for Hammersmith and Fulham LEA. This is a inner-city borough with areas of economic disadvantage and a large under-5 population. The Psychology in Education Service places great emphasis on the early identification of special educational needs. Educational psychologists offer regular visits to nursery schools. Children who are under 5 and not in educational provision are allocated to an educational psychologist through a central register.
