Managing Health and Safety

In this chapter we will consider the reasons why Health and Safety issues figure so large in the everyday work of production management. We will then go on to an examination of the basic steps which need to be undertaken in a risk assessment. After a more detailed look at the practical operation of a sound Health and Safety strategy within the production unit or organisation, this chapter concludes with an example of a simple form to record risk assessment activity.
