ABSTRACT
Caitlin (seven months) sits on her mother's lap and 'plays the piano', while her grandparents sit in rapt attention. She stops occasionally to receive their applause. By nine months she is deliberately moving her position so as to alter the range of notes accessible to her tiny reach but she is still pausing for the admiration.
