ABSTRACT

In this, the last of the three chapters devoted to reporting the research into teachers and therapists working together that was carried out at Pear Tree School, aspects of management will be considered. The areas that will feature relate to what managers can do to support and promote the work of multidisciplinary teams and to the place of leaders in those teams. The questions that drove this part of the case study were the following.

What kinds of management support are important for effective collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork?

Is it helpful to have a senior manager designated to support multidisciplinary teamwork?

Should a therapist be included in the senior management team of the school?

Are written contracts helpful in supporting collaboration?

How important is it to have leaders of multidisciplinary teams?

What might be a framework for collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork?

What might be a model for collaborative multidisciplinary teamwork?
