ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces case studies of individual children of different ages and with different learning styles who were followed over the three-year period of the project. In the previous chapter the case study material was drawn on in a general way, in order to identify and illustrate significant factors in spelling development. In this chapter, however, the aim is to provide more detailed and reflective accounts of six children’s individual development over time. The studies provide insights into children’s development within the classroom context and discuss teaching as well as learning.
