ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the nature of a professional helping relationship with young people, by considering some fairly fundamental questions: What do we mean by helping? How much helping? How do you structure that work? Later chapters cover different aspects of a helping model for one-to-one work, so that each part can be considered separately: this, we hope, will enable readers to make sense of the whole model.
