ABSTRACT
The Standards for the Award of QTS and the Induction Standards emphasise that newly qualified teachers should be familiar with the Code of Practice on the identification and assessment of pupils with special educational needs (SEN). So gaining an understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by their wide-ranging needs is a key part of every NQT’s induction.
