ABSTRACT

The QTS and Induction Standards have a valuable part to play in providing a suitable framework for induction. However, as a newly qualified teacher you should also engage in a scrutiny of your developing professional practice that extends beyond a purely skills-based model. The ethos and priorities of your school are important to this approach – and the key to its implementation is the encouragement of a problematic, reflective appraisal of your emerging teaching and learning practices.
