ABSTRACT

To climb a mountain, the adventurer must prepare two things – a plan and proper equipment. The plan includes route, alternatives, and objective. Equipment depends on the nature of the mountain, whether there are glaciers and sheer cliffs, anticipated weather, and the competence and experience of the climber himself. Safety is a primary concern, but risks are inevitable. The safest course is not to start the adventure at all, but reaching the summit can be the most exhilarating event of a lifetime.
