ABSTRACT

Notemaking is probably the most important tool for academic learning that any student will acquire. However few have ever been taught these vital life skills (Neate 1992). Every good teacher tells children to make notes but there appears to be a general lack of knowledge about how to teach them (OFSTED 1998, 1999). Most adults were never taught themselves how to make notes from different types of texts. Even fewer of those were taught note-making skills in their formative years.
