ABSTRACT

There has been substantial research into school leadership in Western industrialized countries. Comparatively, far less has been published about the status and models of school leadership in the societies and cultures of the developing world. Walker and Dimmock (2000, p.9) remarked that:

While considerable research has been devoted to learning and teaching in areas such as basic education in Asia, cross-cultural learning, international management, and Asian psychology, little attention has been paid to understanding school administration and leadership from East and Southeast Asian perspectives.
