ABSTRACT

This book is intended to support teachers who wish to improve the quality of children's learning in design and technology through making changes to their own practice. This chapter offers an approach to professional development that addresses this intention. The previous chapters have discussed the processes of design and technology and the processes of teaching. The similarities between these have been explored and reference has also been made to another process: that of action enquiry as a route for teachers' professional development. The parallels between this and design and technology are discussed in the following sections.
