ABSTRACT

If you listen to any group of SENCOs chatting they might for a few minutes talk or indeed moan about their latest frustrations or problems, but I can guarantee that before the conversation ends they are merrily talking about the children in their care. The stories of working with particular pupils bring much sought after light relief as with smiles they recall the latest happenings. That is the one of the great rewards of working with children who have SEN. No matter how hard life gets each day there is always something that acts as a reminder as to why it is so worthwhile. Unfortunately what it can’t do is take away the tiredness and exhaustion that results from the stresses, strains and demands of the managerial aspects of the work.
