ABSTRACT
The story of Israel in history is told in the private and personal chapters of the lives of individuals. The wedding rite (“huppah” marriage canopy) refers the bride and groom to Adam and Eve, and to the destruction of the temple of Jerusalem, and the coming restoration of Israel to the Land of Israel at the end of days. Jeremiah’s message of hope at the moment of despair before the fall of the first temple is recited.
