ABSTRACT

This edited volume is based on a two-day closed workshop held at Keio¯ University in September 2003 on ‘Nationalism in Modern and Contemporary Japan’. It represents the culmination of intensive, thought-provoking discussions. All contributors benefited from thinking aloud about individual case studies related to their own areas of expertise, but also about the bigger picture of the study of nationalism in Japan within the comparative context of the study of nationalism in the modern age.
