ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at a variety of mental illnesses where the person is showing signs of depression. These are the changes in mood and behaviours that range from normal unhappiness to persistent depressive thoughts, feelings and actions and may result in deliberate self-harm, suicidal thoughts and attempted suicide. It is likely to be the most common mental health problem encountered by the coach or other in a professional relationship.
