ABSTRACT
The overall objective of Care Work in Europe was to contribute to the development of good quality employment of caring services. But what does good quality employment mean? And how does current care work measure up to this goal? These are the themes of this chapter, together with a related issue. Given the current quality of employment, how do care workers feel about their work – what is their job satisfaction? These questions are explored overall, and in greater depth with one group of care workers: in services for adults with disabilities, the case study of which paid particular attention to the concept of job satisfaction. In the next and final chapter, we consider what conditions might be required for the development of good quality employment in care work throughout Europe.
