ABSTRACT

The Jack Daniels answer usually meanders like this. An essay is an examination of a specified subject. An academic essay is that and more – longer, more structured, more research-based, and littered with references to the theories of purported experts in the field. Both of these must be read, if only by a humble teacher. There is, however, no obligation to read a feature. Luring the reader in is therefore even more important than it is in a news story or match report, both of which are more about information than interpretation.
