ABSTRACT

This book focuses on psychosocial recovery, but although detailed information about physical and sensory problems was not gathered during the interviews, people described how these had affected their recovery. Carleen Scott's study of quality of life following subarachnoid haemorrhage found the impact was considerable:

Issues such as constant headaches or migraines, unstable balance, poor vision, not being able to walk as far as before the SAH, not being able to exercise, excessive tiredness, losing the strength from the side of the body. These appear to be very common effects of an SAH. All these issues were ranked in the top four ways the SAH had affected participants' lives.
