ABSTRACT
Integrated maritime compliance and enforcement strategies must be geographically specific since from one region to another, ocean users differ, legislative and policy goals vary and, as a consequence, capacity requirements will be different. The one commonality is the goal of integrated maritime compliance and enforcement – the efficient and effective use of traditional and non-traditional enforcement methods and resources to ensure a high level of ocean-user compliance with the applicable laws and appropriate practices.
