ABSTRACT

How should we understand the relationship between the United States and China, the world’s only remaining superpower and the country seen to be its most likely challenger? China’s rise in relative economic power (growing at 9 percent a year for the past 25 years) confronts Bush’s militant neoconservative revolution. Who is challenging whom, and how are the two governments attempting to achieve their national objectives? What is the likelihood of a major conflict between the U.S. and the People’s Republic of China (the PRC)?
