ABSTRACT
This chapter has a twofold purpose. The first is to try and bring together some of the main themes and issues of the book. The second is to discuss reasons for the necessity and desirability for the ‘greening’ of social theory. The latter is developed through a brief discussion of the emergence and main principles of green social theory, which is then used to suggest ways in which social theory can or ought to be ‘greened’. Reference will be made to green social, political and moral theory, which should be understood as a particular approach to the greening of social theory. That is, green social theory is only one particular way social theory can be greened; others are always possible (indeed desirable).
