ABSTRACT

Throughout the book, I have shown that moving to Spain engenders different imaginings of self and experiences achievable in retirement for British older migrants. Life in a new land however presents challenges of adjusting to linguistic and cultural difference at a later stage of life. This chapter focuses on how cultural identifications are experienced following this form of migration to Spain. It shows the multiplicity of post-migrant identities and shows how internal differentiation is used to narrate desired ageing identities.
